What determines the price of your move?
What a move costs depends on how many movers are needed, which van, how long it takes and the distance. Below you can see, per type of home, the crew and the time we usually allow, what makes the job take longer or shorter and how the quote is put together.
A terraced house: 3 movers, 5 to 6 hours
That is a home with three rooms, around 30 m³ of belongings, no stairs and 25 kilometres between the two addresses. With 3 movers and the 40 m³ van, it takes us 5 to 6 hours. The call-out charge comes on top and is shown as a separate line on the quote.

How much time stairs without a lift take
Stairs make the biggest difference. Every cupboard and every box goes up or down by hand. This is the same 30 m³ home over 25 kilometres, with one more flight of stairs each time.
Does a cupboard not fit through the stairwell? Then it goes through the window with the furniture lift. We charge it by the hour, and it is sometimes quicker than the stairs.

Between the two addresses we charge per kilometre. The bigger the van, the higher the price per kilometre.

How to keep your moving costs down
You pay for the hours we work. Anything that saves time also saves money.
- Pack yourself and label every box
If everything is closed and ready with a room number, the crew can start straight away. You get boxes and materials from us at list price.
- Make sure the van can park at the door
The crew walks every metre between the door and the van dozens of times. If a permit is needed, we arrange it with you in advance.
- Only take what needs to come
Whatever goes to the charity shop or the recycling centre costs no moving hours. Do that in the weeks before.
- Choose a weekday
At the weekend we charge a surcharge per mover. On weekdays it does not apply.

Questions about moving costs
How long does a move take on average?
We move a terraced house of 30 m³ with 3 movers in 5 to 6 hours. A studio takes 4 to 5 hours with 2 movers, a detached house 6 to 7 hours with 6 movers. What it costs for your home, you can see with the calculator or in the quote.
How do you charge for the movers?
Per mover per hour. On top of that comes the van, also by the hour, depending on its size from 20 to 80 m³. Everything is listed line by line on the quote in advance.
Is a fixed price more expensive than an hourly price?
You only get a fixed price after a site survey, because then we see for ourselves what needs to come. Without a site survey, you get a quote based on hours. Then you pay for the hours we actually work, at the same rates.
What is included in the price?
The movers, the van, the kilometres, taking apart and putting together cupboards, beds and tables, and the blankets, furniture dollies and straps. Packing materials are charged separately, at list price.
Does moving at the weekend cost more?
Yes, at the weekend we charge a surcharge per mover. It is on the quote in advance. On weekdays you pay the normal hourly rate.
What if it takes longer than the quote?
Then we charge the extra time at the same hourly rate. That rarely happens, because we estimate the hours generously. If we finish sooner, you pay less.
